OBITUARY – MARGARET THERESA DE RUYTER

OUTLOOK - Margaret Theresa (Bettencourt) DeRuyter was born on March 23, 1941 in Artesia, California and passed away peacefully at home in Outlook, WA on June 13, 2008.

She will be deeply missed and is survived by her husband, George DeRuyter, sons, Stephen (Sharon) DeRuyter of Pasco, WA, Robert (Angela) DeRuyter of Coeur d'Alene, ID, Dan (Amber) DeRuyter of Outlook, WA, Tom (Penny) DeRuyter of Spokane, WA, and George (Abbie) DeRuyter of Renton, WA. She had eleven grandchildren (Donna, Clint, Mark, Hannah, Gerrit, Jaymin, Brenden, Tristan, Lauren, Emma, and Kathryn) as well as a brother Jack Bettencourt of Orange, CA, sisters, Rita Spelliscy of Orange, CA, Ethel Moons of Edmonds, WA, Mary McConnell of San Antonio, TX, and Helen Purdy of Chino, CA, and many nieces and nephews.

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, and niece. Margaret's grandchildren were her great joy. She was a partner in their farm for many years and very active with the Yakima Valley Dairy Women. She was a volunteer for the Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital and an active member of Resurrection Catholic Church. Margaret was noted for her compassion and generosity in helping those in need.

Margaret had a year and a half battle with brain cancer. She will be missed and continued to be loved by all who knew her.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Bella Bettencourt and her grandfather, Domingos E. Veiga.

Visitation will be at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A Rosary Vigil Service will be held at Resurrection Catholic Church in Zillah on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Resurrection Catholic Church in Zillah on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at the Calvary Cemetery in Yakima.
